ABOUT MARTIN'S KARATE AND MATAWAN SCHOOL OF MARTIAL ARTS

In 1966, nationally known East Coast Karate Champion Raymond W. Martin bought a small Karate Studio in Redbank, New Jersey.  In 1967 he bought another studio on Highway 35 in Holmdel, New Jersey.  Martin's Judo and Karate Studios soon became one of the top schools in New Jersey.

Over the decades Master Martin introduced his student's to the strategies and techniques from the top Martial Arts fighters from different dicisplines.  Including, in the early 1990, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The Karate and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program continued at that location until 1997 when the property was sold.  After the closing, two locations were found to continue the programs; a Neptune City studio was opened by Shihan Martin and the Matawan School were opened by Mr. Dunn.

The Matawan School of Martial Arts continues the Karate and Tae Kwon Do program that evolved over forty years.  Our style of Karate is Ji Do Kwan (Tae Kwon Do) with a Isshinryu influence.  We also incorporated other system's techniques, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  Our instructors are all Master level Black Belts with thirty to forty years of experience.

Our Cardio Kickboxing program started with the opening of the Matawan location.  It is a great program for health and fitness.

WIth the opening of Mr. Renzo Gracie Academy in Holmdel we suspended our Jiu-Jitsu program to support Renzo.
